I am still here.
These days, my studio practice looks different. It involves two children. Young ones whose childhood is now part of my Creative Work.
The space to meditate and practice my craft is now scattered and interrupted, but I am learning to intertwine myself as an artist and as a mother. The quiet reverie of creating is now caught in unexpected moments, but those moments are not cast aside.
For me, creativity and motherhood are a necessary union. Both benefit from a sacred slowness, curiosity, empathy, and keen eye. I may never achieve balance, but I find creativity in both of these selves and take the joy, discoveries, messiness, and unknowns as inspiration.
So, I open my studio doors to these little people to collaborate with me.
I recognize that this phase of my creative journey will likely not garner much attention or acclaim, but I am fully here for it, and I know that my work will be better because of it.
